Jordan’s Amman Club won the AFC Women’s Club Championship 2021 Pilot Tournament (West) title beating Iran’s Shahrdari Sirjan 2-1 at the Aqaba Development Corporate Stadium in Jordan on Saturday.

Goals by captain Maysa Jbarah and Shahnaz Jebreen saw Amman Club through to win the title on goal difference, putting behind them the defeat to Uzbekistan’s Bunyodkor FC on match day two.

Despite beating the eventual champions, FC Bunyodkor ended up finishing bottom of the group losing 3-1 to India’s Sree Gokalum kerala FC in the other final round match. Elshaddai Acheampong, Manisha and Karen Stefanny Paez scored for Kerala.

The four team finals tournament in the AFC’s West region, follows on from a similar test tournament in the East Zone in 2019 that was won by Japan’s Nippon TV Beleza.

The pilot tournaments are a key development stage of the AFC’s ambition to strengthen the foundations of Asian women’s Club football clubs in advance of the launch of the proposed AFC Women’s Champions League.

FIFA Council Member and AFC and BFF Member Miss Mahfuza Akhter Kiran handed over the championship trophy to the winning team at the prize giving ceremony.
