Abahani blank Fortis FC 2-0 in BPL

Abahani Limited beat Fortis Football Club Limited by 2-0 goals in the Bangladesh Premier League football that resumed today (Friday) at Rahshahi district Stadium in Rajshahi. –BSS

In the day’s match, Costa Rican forward Daniel Colindres and Nigerian forward Peter Nworah scored one goal each for Abahani Limited. Both the goals came in the first half.

Abahani Limited went into attack early and got reaped when Colindres scored the first goal in the very 9th minute of the match.

Peter Nworah doubled the lead, scoring the second goal for Abahani Limited in the 13th minute.

Back with a 2-0 lead in the first half, Abahani, however, created a number of scoring chances in the second half but could not increase the margin further because it lacked lack of proper finishing.

Abahani Limited dominated the proceedings, especially in the first half, and notched their deserving victory on the day, while Fortis Football Club Limited were totally off-colored as they failed to produce any real moves.

After the end of the first round, the popular sky blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani Limited finished second position in the league’s table with 24 points from 11 matches, while Fortis Football Club placed seventh position in the table with 12 points playing the same number of outings.

Meanwhile, two matches will be held tomorrow (Saturday) with Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra vs Mohammedan Sporting Club at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj, while Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra meet Bangladesh Plice Football Club at Rafiwq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh.

Both the matches kick off at 3:15 pm.
