Bangladesh face Vietnam in AFC Asian Cup qualifiers tomorrow

Bangladesh U-23 football will start their AFC Asian Cup qualification campaign when they face host Vietnam in their opening group C match scheduled to be held at Việt Trì Stadium, Phú Thọ province, Vietnam tomorrow (Tuesday).

The match kicks off at 7 pm local time.

With the ambition of achieving good results in the AFC U-23 Asian Cup Qualifiers in Vietnam, the Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) last month sent the team to Bahrain for the first time for a solid preparation by playing two friendly matches against strong Bahraini opponents.

In preparation, Bangladesh lost 1-0 and 4-2 goals against their Bahrain counterpart.

Bangladesh has never played in the main round of the AFC U-23 tournament.

The boys in red and green, however, arrived in Vietnam with the hope of playing in the final round of the tournament.

Bangladesh have been drawn in Group-C alongside hosts Vietnam, Yemen, and Singapore.

Bangladesh U-23 football team will play their remaining group matches against Yemen and Singapore on September 6 and September 9 respectively.

Forty four Asian teams, split into 11 groups, will take part in the meet.

Later, 11 group champion teams, four best group runners-up and hosts Saudi Arabia will play in the 16-team final round to be held in Saudi Arabia in January next year.
