Kings extend lead

Holders Bashundhara Kings extended their winning run as they came from behind beat Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society by 4-1 goals in the Bangladesh Premier League football held at Bashundhara Kings Arena in the city on Friday. BSS

In the day’s proceeding, forward Rakib Hossain, Brazilian midfielder Miguel Figueira and his two compatriots Dorielton and Robson scored one goal each for Kings while Ghanaian forward Ernest Boateng netted a lone goal for Rahmatganj.

Ernest Boateng gave Rahmatganj an early lead in the 10th minute but Kings staged a brilliant fight back when Rakib restored the parity in the 26th minute of the match.

After the resumption, Kings fought back strongly and took the lead when Miguel scored the second goal in the 55th minute and Dorielton further widened the Kings’ margin scoring the third goal in the 90+3rd minute of the match.

Forward Robson completed the winners’ tally scoring the fourth goal in the 90+6th minute of the match.

Kings dominated all through the proceeding, especially in the second half and notched their deserving victory while Rahmatganj were off-colored as they had to content with a lone goal in the match.

With the day’s win, Kings raised their tally to 21 points from eight matches while the traditional old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj remained at their previous credit of seven points playing the same number of matches.

Meanwhile in the remaining eight round matches tomorrow (Saturday), Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited will play against Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club at Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh, Abahani Limited, Dhaka meet Chittagong Abahani Limited at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj and Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra take on Brothers Union Club at Bashundhara Kings Arena in Dhaka.
