Bangladesh face strong Qatar tomorrow

Bangladesh U-20 soccer team take strong Qatar in their third group B match of the AFC U-20 Asian Cup Qualifiers held tomorrow (Friday) at Sheikh Ali bin Mohammed Al Khalifa Stadium in Bahrain.

The match kicks off at 9 pm (BST).

Prior to the tough match, Bangladesh team’s head coach Rashed Ahmed Pappu was found hopeful with his boys because he is elated by the performance the his boys in the last two group matches against Bahrain and Bhutan.

He said a good result is expected against Qatar match if the boys are able to carry out the same performance which they showed in their last two group matches though he categorically admitted that Qatar is a tough opponent.

Captain Tanvir Hossain said: “It’s like a final match for us and also a big match that we are going to face against Qatar….. there will be a chance to go the next round if we able to do something good against Qatar … we are now in good position and the confidence level is up and try to give a total team effort in order to snatch a good result against Qatar.

The captain also seeks blessing to all so that they can leave the field with a good result from the Friday’s match.

Bangladesh earlier formed host Bahrain playing to a goalless draw in their opening group match and beat Bhutan by 2-1 goals in their second match.

While table topper Qatar earlier beat Nepal 3-1 in their group opening match and thrashed Bhutan 6-0 in the second match of the tournament.

The group also features Qatar, Nepal and Bhutan and Bangladesh will play their last group match against Nepal on September Sunday (Sept 18) at the same venue.

Ten group champions and five best runners-up teams will join hosts Uzbekistan in the final round of the competition to be held next year.
