Dhaka Abahani lose valuable points

Abahani Limited, Dhaka, lost valuable points as they were forced to play a 1-1 goal draw by new comers Swadhinata Krira Sangha in the TVS Bangladesh Premier League Football held Friday at Shaheed Smrity Stadium in Rajshahi.

With the day’s outcome, Abahani Limited, remained second position in the league table with 17 points from eight matches while Swadhinata Krira Sangha bagged five points playing the same number of matches.

In the day’s match, forward Nabib Newaj Jibon put Abahani Limited ahead in the 39 minute while after the breather Swadhinata Krira Sangha staged a brilliant fight back in the match when striker Ekbal Hussain restored the parity in the 80th minute of the match.

Abahani Limited, however tried heart and soul to take the lead, but could not convert any in the remaining proceeding and finally they had to leave the field sharing one point with Swadhinata Krira Sangha, who showed good brand of football in the whole proceeding.

Abahani Limited will play their next match against Lieutenant Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club on Wednesday (March 16) at Bir Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj while Swadhinata Krira Sangha will meet old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society on March 18 at Sylhet District Stadium in Sylhet.

Saturday’s matches: Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited vs Uttar Baridhara Club at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Munshiganj, Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra vs Bangladesh Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra at Bashundhara Sports Complex , Dhaka and Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society vs Bangladesh Police Football Club at Sylhet District Stadium in Sylhet. All the matches kick off at 3.30 pm.
