India earn second win

India recorded their second successive victory in the SAFF U-19 Women’s Championship beating Bhutan by 3-0 goals held Wednesday at Birshreshtha Shaheed Sepoy Mohammad Mostafa Kamal Stadium in the city’s Kamalapur.

With the day’s win, India reached top of the table with six points from two matches while Bhutan remained at their previous credit of three points playing the same number of matches.

In the proceeding, Priyangka Devi scored a brace while Sumati Kumari supported her with a lone goal for India who led the first half by 2-0 goal.

Sumati Kumari opened an account scoring the first goal for India early in the 7th minute while Priyangka doubled the lead scoring the second goal for India in the 41st minute of the match.

Priyangka completed the winners’ tally scoring her second and third goal for India in the 53rd minute.

India dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory on the day while Bhutan were off colored. India will play against host Bangladesh while Bhutan face Nepal in their respective next matches scheduled to be held on Friday (Dec 17) at the same venue.

Earlier, India got off to a winning start in the championship register a resounding 5-0 victory over Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals in their opening match while Bhutan blanked Sri Lanka by 5-0 goals in their first match but suffered a 0-6 goal defeat to host Bangladesh in their second match.
