Dhaka Abahani group champion defeating Muktijoddha 2-1

Traditional sky blue outfits Dhaka Abahani became Group-D champions with a 2-1 win over Muktijoddha Sangsad Krira Chakra on Wednesday in the Federation Cup football at Bangabandhu National Stadium, Dhaka.

At their archrivals victory, the fans of Mohammedan Sporting Club are too happy. The black and white outs fits that are also a rival from the same group had found the match result in their favour as this win helped them confirm the quarterfinals along their archrivals.

The all reds begin the group round losing in the first match to Mohammedan by 4-1 previously. Mohammedan, on the other hand, suffered a 3-0 defeat to Dhaka Abahani in its first match.

After the match on Wednesday, Dhaka Abahani had six points while Mohammedan got three and Muktijoddha zero.
In the match, the sky blues went ahead with a 30-minute of goal of Afghan scorer Masih Saighani who recently joined Abahani and the second goal was netted by Haitian scorer Kervens Fils Belfort.

The all reds could not level the margin but they did manage to reduce the margin by a goal three minute before the long whistle with a goal of Rohit Sarkar.

Now, Group-A champion Sheikh Russel Krira Chakra will meet Group-C runner-up Chittagong Abahani in the first quarterfinal match on Friday at 4:00 PM at the same venue.
