Selemani makes hattrick for Sheikh Russel KC

Ctg Abahani force Dhaka Abahani to play out 2-2 draw, Mohammedan drop points

Former champions Dhaka Abahani Ltd split points with minnows Chittagong Abahani Ltd as their 8th round match of the 10-team ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh  Premier League (BPL) Football ended in 2-2 draw at the Sheikh Fazlul Haque Moni Stadium in Gopalganj on Saturday.

Saint Vincent forward Cornelius Stewart scored both goals for Dhaka Abahani– first in the 9th from a penalty and other in the 36th minutes to dominate the first half by 2-0 goals.

Nigerian striker Ojukwu David Ifegwu leveled the margin scoring two successive goals for Ctg Abahani in span of only nine minutes–first in the stoppage time of the first half (45+3 minute) from a penalty and other goal in the 54th minute (2-2).

The day’s another league match between league’s lone unbeaten team Dhaka Mohammedan SC and Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club ended in a goalless draw at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh Saturday afternoon.

In the day’s other league match, Sheikh Russel KC,  riding on a hattrick by Burundi booter Selemani outplayed bottom ranked Brothers Union Club by 4-1 goals at their home venue–Bashundhara  Kings Arena –Saturday afternoon.

Burundi forward Selemani made a hattrick scoring three goals in a row in the 37th, 39th and 60th minutes while local forward Sumon Reza,opened the Sheikh Russel account in the very 5th minute.

Defender Rabby Hossain Rahul scored the consolation goal for the Gopibagh outfit Brothers Union in the 70th minute.

After the day’ s 8th round matches, holders  Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league table securing 21 points, Mohammedan SC, the lone unbeaten team in the league,  followed the Kings distantly securing 16 points while Dhaka Abahani Ltd are in the 3rd slot collecting 14 points.

Chittagong Abahani and Sheikh Jamal DC are in the  4th and 5th places respectively collecting 10 points each while Sheikh Russel KC and Fortis FC are in the 6th and 7th places respectively earning nine points each.

Rahmatganj MFS and Police FC remain at the 8th and 9th slots respectively with seven points each while Old Horse Brothers Union Club are at the bottom of the 10-team league with three points.
