Dhaka Abahani bounce back with win over Police FC

Former champions Dhaka Abahani Limited returned to winning ways in the 10-team ABG Bashundhara Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football beating Bangladesh Police FC by 2-1 goals in the 6th round match at the Rafiq Uddin Bhuiyan Stadium in Mymensingh on Friday.

Dhaka Abahani conceded a 2-0 defeat against holders Bashundhara Kings in the last match.

With the day’s feat, Dhaka Abahani moved up to the 3rd slot in the league table securing ten points from six matches while Police FC went down to the 4th place from 3rd place with their previous credit of seven points, also playing six matches.

In the day’s match, Brazilian midfielder Jonathan Fernandez put the popular Sky-Blue Dhanmondi outfit Abahani ahead in the 12th minute (1-0) while local medio Mohammad Ridoy doubled the Abahani margin in the 51st minute (2-0)

Police FC reduced the margin by a gifted goal when Abahani defender Asaduzzaman Bablu sent the ball to his own net in the 65th minute (2-1).

Rabiul Hasan of Abahani Ltd was adjudged the player of the match.

The day’s other league match between Sheikh Russel KC and Rahmatganj MFS ended in a goalless draw at the Bashundhara Kings Arena here on Friday.

After the day’s matches, holders Bashundhara Kings comfortably dominated the league table with all win-record securing full 15 points while Federation Cup champions Dhaka Mohammedan SC are in the 2nd slot collecting eleven points, playing five matches,

Three teams : Rahmatganj MFS, Sheikh Russel KC and Sheikh Jamal DC (5 matches)– collected six points each to share the 6th, 7th and 8th places respectively.
