Kings reach last four in Independence Cup

The semifinal line of the Independence Cup football has been settled as Bashundhara Kings beat Bangladesh Army Football Club by 2-1 goals in the last quarterfinal match of the Independence Cup Football held at Bashundhara Kings Arena on Tuesday.

Bashundhara Kings will now play against Abahani Limited, Dhaka in the second semifinal match scheduled to be held on December 15 at the same venue, following the first semifinal match between Mohammedan Sporting Club Limited and old Dhaka outfit Rahmatganj Muslim and Friends Society on the same day.

The first semifinal will be held at Sheikh Fazlul Haque Mani Stadium in Gopalganj.

In the day’s match, Uzbek defender Boburbek Yuldashov and Brazilian forward Dorielton scored one goal each for Bashundhara Kings who led the first half by 1-0 goal.

Forward Shahriar Emon netted a lone goal for Bangladesh Army Football Club.

Boburbek put Kings ahead in the 39th minute while after the breather Emon restored the parity for Army Football Club in the 61st minute of the match.

Dorielton sealed the victory scoring the second goal for Kings in the 76th minute of the match.

Bashundhara Kings dominated the entire proceeding and notched their deserving victory while Bangladesh Army Football Club were off-colored, except the day’s lone goal in the second half. BSS
