Swiss prosecutors said Thursday that they had filed an appeal against the acquittal of former football chiefs Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini over a suspected fraudulent payment.

“We confirm that the Office of the Attorney General has appealed to the Appeals Chamber of the Federal Criminal Court within the statutory period … and has applied for the full annulment of the first-instance judgement,” a spokeswoman for the Office of the Attorney General told AFP in an email.
