Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) yet to receive any official confirmation from the concern authority to use the Bangladesh Army stadium to roll the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) Football which will begin from Thursday (Feb 3).

The BFF reduced match venues of the league this season from seven to four due to ongoing pandemic.

In the last Professional League Management Committee’s meeting held on Saturday last decision was taken to host the BPL matches at four venues — Shaheed Ahsanullah Master Stadium in Tongi, Shaheed Birshreshtha Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj, Bangladesh Army Stadium and the newly built Bashundhara Kings ground –in the capital and it’s adjoining area, but the latest development is that BFF yet to receive any official confirmation from the army stadium’s authority to us this venue. As a result the BFF is going to roll the BPL initially keeping the names of three venues in the fixture.

Talking to the pressmen today (Monday) BFF general secretary Abu Nayeem Shohag said: “We have fruitful talked to the concern authority of army stadium more than one about organizing league match at army stadium …. we’ve been still continuing  conversation with them (concern authority) to host at least two league’s matches in a week until May or June …. the feedback which we got from them if the matter is couple of months instead of five or six months to use the stadium, they (the authority) can positively think about the BFF’s request of allocating the stadium.”

“If we get the army stadium for two months, we’ll be able to  host some matches there, which will reduce the pressure of the remaining three existing venues of the league. So we must have to need a written confirmation to get the army stadium,” he added.

He informed that there are number of guidelines about using the stadium for the foreigners. In fact, there is a need to get approval from them, they have their own mechanism and procedure, decisions are made by performing those. So, considering three venues in mind the BFF is going to reveal the fixture of the league tonight.

Shohag said the concern authority discussing with BFF positively in this regards though it takes some time, but he hoped that the they would get the venue for the league.
